PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Zamboanga successfully rescued a person who tried to commit suicide by jumping off pier in Zamboanga City on Saturday, 11 April.

Reports revealed that CGS Zamboanga received a call from personnel of Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) informing that a person intentionally jumped over at said pier to commit suicide due to depression.

The PPA personnel rendered all necessary assistance to rescue the victim identified as Miss Jhocel Ann Nicole Valendan, 16 years old but refused to cooperate until such that she was swept away by the current.

Said station immediately dispatched Special Operations Group (SOG) and K9-Unit personnel onboard a rubber boat to conduct rescue operation.

The rescue team sighted the victim and was successfully rescued on or about 1420H of same date and immediately brought to CGS Zamboanga.

Upon arrival, CGS Zamboanga personnel rendered necessary assistance to the victim and properly turned-over said person to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 9 for custody and profiling.
