PCG: A 20-year old resort keeper in Boracay drowned while swimming with relatives and friends at Station 3 of Barangay Manoc-Manoc in Boracay last Monday, May 11.
Reports revealed that Rendell N. Tajan was swept by a rip current 30 meters away from the shoreline of Angol Point, Station 3.
Rip tides are found near beaches, with its strongest pull near the surface of the water and moves directly away from the shore.
The incident was reported by a certain Kyla Ramirez to the Coast Guard who immediately sent its Deployable Response Team (DRT) to search for Tajan.
The victim was sighted 30 meters away from the shoreline and was brought to the beach for first aid. He was then rushed to the Metropolitan Doctors Medical Clinic where Dr. Cristina Teotico pronounced him dead on arrival.
The personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Boracay transported the cadaver onboard the PCG rubber boat from Boracay Island to Caticlan where the remains was brought by his relatives to Prado Funeral Homes for proper disposition.
