PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard held a closing ceremony for the recently concluded Commandant’s Cup Summer Sportsfest 2015 at PCG Headquarters Shaded Area in Manila yesterday, May 19.

One of the highlights of the event is the awarding ceremony of winners in the various sports lined-up for the celebration organized by the Coast Guard Special Services Office.

The Coast Guard Fleet was hailed as the champion while the PCG headquarters was announced as the 1st runner-up. The Maritime Safety Services Command and Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service tied for the 2nd place while the Coast Guard Internal Affairs Office was the 3rd runner up based on the total team standing.

The Coast Guard Fleet was victorious in bagging most of the medals by winning in the basketball (officer and non-officer), volleyball (men), badminton, table tennis, and darts.

The ceremony was attended by PCG Commandant, Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena, Deputy Commandant, Rear Admiral William M Melad; and Commander of Coast Guard Fleet, Rear Admiral Cecil R Chen. Said sportsfest was participated by the men and women from the PCG headquarters and major commands.

The event aims to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among Coast Guardsmen through various sports.
