PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard in Malacañang successfully recovered a cadaver after jumping off Plaza Mexico Ferry Station in Intramuros, Manila today.
The unidentified male cadaver about 22 to 25 years of age, 5’5” in height, has a tattoo on his left chest and was wearing underwear, was retrieved about 30 minutes after he was reported to be drowning.
Reports received by Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Pureza from Mr Lope Reyes, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority radioman of Plaza Mexico Ferry Station revealed that at around 10AM, personnel of said ferry station tried to stop the victim from boarding the Pasig ferry bus as he was observed to have been in the influence of liquor. Subsequently, he then jumped into the river. Said personnel tried to help the victim by throwing a lifejacket but failed to reach it which resulted to his drowning.
CGSS Pureza immediately coordinated with Coast Guard Station Pasig for its search and rescue (SAR) team composed of Special Operations Unit Malacañang to conduct underwater operation. SAR team successfully recovered the lifeless body of the victim and was brought at said ferry station.
The cadaver was properly turned over to Manila Police District’s Homicide Division and was further brought to Arch Michael Funeral Homes in Pandacan, Manila for proper disposition.
