PCG: A total of 352 newly appointed male draftees took oath before Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena yesterday as additional work force to the PCG.

Among who graced the oath taking ceremony of draftees were Deputy Commandant, Rear Admiral William M Melad; Chief of Coast Guard Staff, Captain Oscar C Endona; Deputy of Coast Guard Staff for Human Resource Management and Records, Captain Ramon S Lopez and other PCG head of offices.

“We need brave souls, disciplined men, and good soldiers. We need people who love their country more than they love themselves or their family. These qualities of the Coast Guard are the reason why we successfully carry out our mandates to save lives and keep our Philippine waters safe," Admiral Isorena said during his speech.

The Coast Guard draftees have undergone and qualified various exams such as the aptitude battery exam, physical fitness test, psychological/neurological exam, medical and dental exams.

They will undergo 18 months of pre-Coast Guardsman’s training before they endure another six months of regimental training.
