Motorbanca Kim Nirvana-B of 33.58 Gross Tonnage with 187 persons onboard composed of 173 passengers and 14 crewmembers capsized at vicinity 200 meters from Port of Ormoc while underway enroute to Pilar Camotes Island, Cebu at around 12:15PM yesterday, 02 July.

As of 6AM, today, 03 July, Coast Guard Action Center in Manila has recorded a total of 134 rescued passengers and 38 casualties while 15 are still missing.

Coast Guard District Eastern Vizayas is still conducting a 24/7 search and rescue operations to the missing passengers in the area of incident. Personnel from Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Ormoc City Government and other local government units have also augmented in the said rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Search and Rescue Vessel BRP Batangas (SARV-004) arrived in the area of the incident at around 8PM, 02 July, to assist in the towing of the capsized Mbca Kim Nirvana-B in order to easily retrieve the cadavers possibly trapped inside the said vessel.
