PCG: The Coast Guard Education and Training Command (CGETC) of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be launching a symposium focused on the maritime security and law enforcement this morning, 28th of July to be held at Luneta Hotel, TM Kalaw Avenue in Manila.

The third symposium on trending topics and developments dubbed as “Maritime Education: A Sine Qua Non To Maritime Security and Maritime Law Enforcement” will be attended by the Deputy Executive Director of the National Coast Watch Council Secretariat, Rear Admiral Roberto De Vera Santos, and PCG Commandant, Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena PCG as keynote speakers. 

The event aims to adopt a road map of building maritime security and maritime law enforcement capacity for improved management of maritime environment through education.

The symposium is focused on the harmonization of strategies for PCG law enforcers to determine the areas of convergence with other maritime law enforcement agencies as well as the rules to be followed during coordinated operations and response, the guidelines to be followed relative to safety and security at sea and protection of the marine environment by coastal communities and commercial shipping companies operating domestically, as well as the social responsibilities of maritime law enforcers.

Among the personalities attended the symposium were Professor of the University of the Philippines, College of Political Science, Professor Clarita R Carlos, Professor International Studies, De la Salle University, Professor Renato De Castro, President Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific, Admiral Eduardo Maria Santos AFP (Ret) and Acting Assistant Program Manager US DOJ ICITAP, Philippines, Mr William (Bill) Kuehl.
