PCG: A male passenger of a motor boat in Iloilo City jumped to his death last August 10 while availing a free ride from Ortiz Wharf to Jordan Motor Banca Terminal.

The victim, Raul Cordero, was reportedly assisted by an unidentified Barangay Kagawad to avail of a free ride onboard motor banca "Wilberg". 

While navigating 500 yards off Ortiz Wharf, Cordero allegedly jumped overboard for no apparent reason and failed to resurface.

Upon receipt of information from the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Jordan, a deployable rescue team from Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo onboard AB-048 was immediately sent to search for the victim. 

The personnel of CGSS Iloilo Fishing Port Complex  and Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas (SOUWV) were likewise sent to assist in the search and rescue operations.

Cordero was recovered unconscious by the Coast Guard, was immediately given first aid and was rushed to St. Paul's Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. 

His cadaver was turned-over to his son for proper funeral arrangements.
