PCGA-PIO: The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) has successfully conducted a mangrove planting activity in La Isla Bonita, Rosario, Cavite yesterday, September 25, in line with the National Maritime Week Celebration (NMWC).

About 2,000 mangrove propagules, of three different species, were planted to help prevent soil erosion from the shoreline, provide breeding habitats for the marine life, and help mitigate the effects of global warming.

Commodore Salvador G. Tiangco Jr, Director of Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR-Central Luzon, led the event with almost 150 volunteers from the Philippine Coast Guard, PCGA, and Lions Club-Imus.

The PCGA has also joined the Coast Guard in its Mass Casualty Response Training last Wednesday and a Fun Run on Thursday. The organization also participated in today’s Fire Fighting Drill and Static Display at the Quirino Grandstand, as part of the NMWC.
