DOTC-PCG: A fisherman and his son were found dead by their fellow fishers in Sorsogon, Bicol on New Year's day.

Dante Ortiz and his son Roy Ben, alyas "Polgoso", were reported missing by Melit Ortiz last December 31.

According to Melit, her husband and son departed the Port of Sorsogon to conduct fishing venture but has failed to return as expected.

Immediately, the Deployable Response Group (DRG) of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Sorsogon onboard a hired motor boat, in coordination with six fisher folks from Barangay Talisay, Sorsogon, proceeded to the area to conduct search and rescue operation but yielded negative result.
On January 1, 2014, Roy Ben was found by a fisherman passing by the vicinity waters of Barangay Punong, Casiguran. The SAR divers immediately proceeded to the area and found the victim entangled in a fish coral (Bunuan).

Initial assessment conducted with the cadaver revealed that he incurred a wound in the forehead near the left eyebrow and was wearing a piece of flipper on the right foot.

A family member later identified the victim as Roy Ben when the body was ferried to the Casiguran Port.

After a while, the SAR Team received information from MPS Castilla that a cadaver was found in Port of Castilla and was identified as Dante Ortiz, and is currently in the custody of MPS Castilla, Sorsogon for proper disposition.

On the same date, CGS Sorsogon returned to proper station without untoward incident happen.
