DOTC-PCG: Elements of the Philippine Coast Guard in Occidental Mindoro continues searching for a fisherman who reportedly fell overboard a Vietnamese fishing vessel near Lubang Island last Friday, January 10.

The unidentified fisherman was onboard KH 97876 and was conducting fishing venture 65NM southwest off Lubang Island when he fell overboard around 2:00PM.

Upon receipt of said report, the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Tilik immediately conducted a search and rescue operation but due to strong winds and big waves prevailing in the area, the team decided to return to station and resume with the SAR operations if the weather permits.

Meanwhile, Coast Guard Station (CGS) Mamburao also coordinated with the Philippine Navy's Coast Watch Station Cabra as well as to all of the coastal barangays within the area.

Coast Guard has also sent a Notice to All Mariners to all vessels transiting the area to be on the look-out for possible sighting of the missing fisherman and to render necessary assistance and report to the nearest PCG unit if sighted.
