DOTC-PCG: Two fishermen went missing on separate incidents in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte after both ventured out to sea for a fishing activity last Monday, January 13.

The first incident was reported to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Currimao by a certain Juliet from the Provincial Capitol in Laoag City. Accordingly, the fisherman identified as Rogelio Topaz, 54 years old and a resident of Barangay Poblacion 1, Pagudpud, llocos Norte, went for a fishing venture last Monday but failed to return since.

The report was confirmed by Barangay Capt. Maricel Garvida and furthered that Topaz was last seen onboard a motorbanca marked with "All Cousins" on its hull.

CGS Currimao deployed the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Pagudpud to search for Topaz along the shoreline of Barangay Pasaleng to Barangay Poblacion 1, Ilocos Norte but yielded negative results.

On the same day, CGSS Bolinao received a report from a certain Mr. Tolentino of Barangay Aloleng, Agno, Pangasinan informing that Gener Noguera, 38 years old and operator of M/Bca Glaiza, departed the said barangay on Sunday but has failed to return since.

According to Tolentino, Noguera went fishing at approximately 30NM northwest of Barangay Aloleng.

Due to the unfavorable weather and sea condition, the search and rescue operation was terminated.

Likewise, all vessels plying within the area are advised to be on the look-out for the missing fishermen and to render necessary assistance and report to nearest PCG unit if sighted.
