DOTC-PCG: Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog Commander, Commodore Elson A Hermogino today lauded PCG Talisay rescue team for the successful rescue operation of 35 Korean tourists when their motor banca transporting them across Taal Lake submerged last Sunday, January 19.

The Koreans were onboard motorbanca Black Dragon and was enroute to Pulo Isand for a sightseeing and tour of the Taal Volcano when the incident occurred.

According to its boat captain Romilo Velasco, they were already 50 meters away from the shoreline of Pulo Island when the boat sustained a hole in its hull due to big waves in the area. Black Dragon eventually took on water until it submerged.

The incident was reported by Genalyn M. Barba, Officer in Charge of the Municipal Tourism of Talisay, Batangas to the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Talisay.

Immediately, the elements of CGSS Talisay, proceeded at the said area and launched search and rescue operations.

Upon arrival at the said area, CGSS Talisay and other boats at the vicinity have successfully rescued all of the foreign passengers and were brought to Pulo, Island, Talisay, Batangas in good physical condition.
