DOTC-PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard continues its search for a missing fisherman whose paraw was battered by rough seas and capsized between the vicinity waters of Gonzaga and Buguey, Cagayan around 6:00AM yesterday.
Initial report revealed that Coast Guard Station (CGS) Aparri received a call from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) personnel assigned in Sta Teresita, Cagayan that said a motor banca, with a certain Mr Taloza onboard, capsized.
According to investigation, JR Taloza, 26 years old, married and a resident of Barangay Caroan, Gonzaga, Cagayan, went fishing onboard a payaw around 5:00AM. While underway, his motorbanca was battered with big waves causing it to capsize.
Joint elements of CGS Aparri, Special Operations Unit Northeastern Luzon (SOUNELZN), together with civilian volunteers, conducted search and retrieval operations but yielded negative result.
The team decided temporarily terminate the search due to unfavorable sea condition and will continue if weather permits
