PCG: About 80 kilos of fish poison, locally known as “lagtang”, was confiscated by the elements of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cuyo and Coast Guard K9 from a 45 year-old woman at the Port of Cuyo, Palawan last Saturday March 08.

Mr. Pacifico Sabroso, security inspector of the passenger's terminal building of Tubbataha Management Office informed the Coast Guard during its arrival inspection at MV Ma Isabel that four baggage were suspectedly containing a noxious substance.

The joint Coast Guard team immediately proceeded at the area along with Mr. Reginald Catareg, head of TMO-Cuyo. The baggage, owned by a certain Gemma Gabona Y Oriel, was opened by Mr. Steve Salazar, General Manager of Port Global Handling Services Inc. Meanwhile BFAR personnel and Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) Castillo of the Philippine National Police-Cuyo stood as witnesses.

The content of the baggage were positively identified as "lagtang" with an estimated value of Php 60,000.

Oriel, a resident of Bancao-Bancao, Puerto Princesa City, intended to loaded the poison onboard M/V “Ma Isabel” which was bound for Puerto Princesa City.

In the absence of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) at the area, said confiscated items were turned-over to local police in Cuyo for proper safe keeping.
