PCG: The personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Balabac have assisted a Japanese national whose yacht was grounded at the vicinity waters of Roughton (Onok) Island in Balabac, Palawan last Sunday, March 09.
The incident was reported to the Coast Guard by a certain Mr. Labkon, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Balabac, Palawan. Accordingly, a yacht marked "Oodobo" and described to be colored red and white ran aground at the said island.
The personnel of said sub-station immediately conducted a search and rescue operation for the distressed yacht and towed it back to Balabac Pier for repairs.
Further inquiry revealed that the skipper have fallen asleep on the helm thereby causing the yacht to run aground.
After conducting minor repairs to her rudder, the yacht was cleared to depart for Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Yacht βOodoboβ is owned and operated by a certain Mr. Yoshisue, 61 years old, a Japanese national and resident of 131-6 Masato kuman Kubota cho Saga Ken, Japan. Her last port of call was Brunei enroute to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
