DOTC-PCG: A total 31 fishermen were apprehended by the Philippine Coast Guard due to illegal fishing and expired ship license.

Said fishermen onboard F/V NKB were intercepted on the act by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cuyo who were then conducting a maritime patrol (MARPAT) about 4.5NM southwest of Imalaguan, Cuyo, Palawan yesterday, March 11.

CGS Cuyo also found out that apart from illegal fishing, F/V NKB's ship station license is already expired.

The 116.74GT vessel is owned and operated by Thea Liz R. Fu, with business address at 32 T. Abela St., Tabo-an, Cebu City. It was skippered by Paulino Y. Fernandez, 49 years old, when it was intercepted by the Coast Guard.

CGS Cuyo issued a Maritime Violation Receipt for violation of RA 8550 (Municipal Fishery Ordinance of Cuyo) and MVR Code 008 (Expired Ship Station License) and advised Fernandez to rectify said violations at the MARINA office in Cebu.
