PCG: A total of 21 passengers, 14 of whom are foreigners, were successfully rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard after the outrigger of their boat were damaged off Sojoton Point in Cauayan, Negros Occidental while sailing to Oslob, Cebu Friday night.

Investigation revealed that the starboard outrigger of M/Bca Ona was damaged by strong winds and big waves leaving the boat with limited maneuverability and a tendency to capsize.

 After necessary confirmation and coordination, MCS 3006 was dispatched from Iloilo City to conduct Search and Rescue Operation (SAR).

Due to rough sea condition that was unfavourable to transfer the survivors, MCS 3006 escorted the distressed boat to Guimaras Island where it was safe to transfer the passengers.

On or about 6:40 am on March 22, 2014, MCS 3006 returned after successful mission with eleven (11) foreigners- survivors onboard. The other three (3) foreigners who are the organizers of the diving adventure and seven (7) crew members opted to remain onboard m/bca Ona now anchored at Sta Ana Bay, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras with two (2) PCG personnel providing assistance.

After routine physical check up by Iloilo City emergency responders (ICER),the eleven (11) foreigners were brought to Iloilo business Inn earlier arranged by the organizers.
