PCG-DOTC: Another drowning incident was recorded this week after a teenage boy was dragged by waves farther from the shore of Capusan Beach, Cuyo, Palawan last Sunday, March 23.

The victim, Dexter Jaranilla, 16 years-old, reportedly went swimming with two others from Cuyo Pier to Capusan Beach. Eventually, the group encountered strong winds and waves that subsequently dragged and drowned the victim while his companions struggled to swim back to shore.

Immediately upon receipt of said report, Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cuyo with K-9 personnel conducted search and rescue (SAR) operation with complete diving equipment until underwater visibility and light condition permits. After two hours of searching and deteriorating conditions, the team terminated SAR operation with negative result and decided to resume the next day.

Around 6:50 AM of March 24 the cadaver of the victim was finally recovered at vicinity approximately 50 meters away from the shoreline of Capusan Beach and was properly turn-over to Cuyo PNP for proper disposition.
