DOTC-PCG: Two teenage girls were rescued from imminent drowning by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Camarines Norte last Wednesday afternoon about 25 meters off the shoreline of Barangay 3 Mercedes.

Jenelyn Boria and Danica Arciaga, both 14 years old, were found unconscious by the Coast Guard at the said area and were rushed to Mercedes Municipal Health Center.

Boria, however, was declared dead on arrival while Arciaga survived.

As per the initial investigation by CGS Camarines Norte, the victims went swimming with their friends but were drifted to the deeper portion of the sea by strong current. The incident was then immediately reported by Cristian Mogas, Kagawad of Barangay 3 Mercedes to CGS Camarines Norte.

A SAR operations to the missing girls was conducted by the Coast Guard and some barangay officials who were later seen unconscious 25 meters off the shoreline. 

Said victims and survivor were turned-over to their respective families for proper disposition.9
