PCG: 48 passengers were safely evacuated by the Coast Guard from an agrounded motor boat near Coron Pier last Wednesday, April 09.

The said passengers were onboard MB Princess Emilei along with six crew members when it accidentally ran aground at approximately one mile west of Coron Pier.

Upon receiving the distress call from MB Princess Emilei, the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Coron, together with Special Operations Unit (SOU), coordinated with M/Bca Bunso 2A for the conduct of rescue operations.

All of the stranded passengers were then transferred to M/Bca Bunso 2A and were ferried to Coron Port in good physical condition.

The following day, MB Princess Emilei has been successfully extracted from its grounding position using her own propulsion last 10 April. No major damage was found on its hull during the underwater hull inspection conducted by the SOU-Coron.
