PCG: A total of 42 passengers were rescued after a passenger/cargo motorbanca encountered engine trouble about 800 meters east off Ungos Port, Real, Quezon last Saturday, April 12.
Reports revealed that while steaming from Ungos Port to Polilio, Quezon, M/Bca Sea J-3 encountered engine trouble due to a worn-out piston liner and cracked head forcing the master to shutdown the engine to prevent further damage.
Upon receipt of report, the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Poblacion immediately proceeded to said area to conduct search and rescue operation.
CGSS Poblacion team arrived at the area of incident and towed back Mbca Sea J-3 to Ungos Port, Real, Quezon with all passengers and crew all accounted and in good physical condition.
Mbca Sea J-3 with 32.36 GT/ 22.86 NT with 4 crew and 42 passengers is skippered by a certain Mr. Benjamin.
