DOTC-PCG: Three drowning incidents were recorded by the Philippine Coast Guard during the Holy Week where two victims died while three others were rescued in Batangas, Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur.

The first incident occurred in Lobo, Batangas where an 18 year-old boy drowned around 11:30AM last Thursday while swimming approximately 50 meters off the shoreline.

While the victim, Rey Babao, was rescued by other beachgoers, he was unfortunately declared dead on arrival at the Lobo Municipal Hospital. It was later confirmed that Babao was not intoxicated when he drowned.

Around 4:50PM of the same day in Narvacan, Ilocos Norte, a 56 year-old man drowned while swimming under the influence of alcohol.

The victim, Eugenio Beleza Barcena was reportedly swimming off Monte Leah Beach Resort when he drowned. His body was later recovered by a concerned citizen and was returned to his family for proper disposition.

The following day, three teenagers were rescued by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Sual from imminent drowning in Lingayen Beach, Pangasinan.

The victims were seen drowning by the Coast Guard around 10:30AM and immediately rescued the teens identified as RC Salinas, 16 years old, Jomari Suga, 17 years old and Renato Zerilla, 18 years old all residents of Urbiztondo, Pangasinan.

The victims were properly turned over to the provincial medical team for proper medication.
