PCG: Chief Officer Arles T. Velo, who was earlier reported to have fallen off M/V Freestar last Easter Sunday in Iloilo was found lifeless by a boat captain yesterday, April 22. 

The victim's cadaver was seen and recovered by the boat captain of "Cutlass Supreme" while navigating enroute to Parola Wharf, Iloilo from Rosario Wharf, Buenavista, Guimaras.

The unnamed boat captain immediately reported the incident to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo.

Initial reports revealed that Chief Officer Velo decided to go swimming while the vessel was docked at the Anchorage Area in Iloilo but accidentally slipped off the ladder, fell into the sea and was drifted by the strong current towards the southern part of Iloilo Strait.

Velo's remains was later positively identified by the second engineer of M/V Freestar and was transported to Gegato Abecia Funeral Homes in Jaro, Iloilo for proper disposition.
