PCG: The search and rescue (SAR) team of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Isabela has successfully rescued 153 passengers of a passenger/cargo vessel which ran aground along the vicinity waters of Fuego-Fuego Beach, Isabela City, Basilan last Sunday, 01 June.

Initial reports received by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Zamboanga from a certain Mr. Elardo Pandangan, Operations Manager of Ibnerizam Shipping Lines Incorporated, revealed that MV Jadestar Legacy was enroute to Zamboanga City Pier from Port of Isabela City in Basilan when it accidentally ran aground.

Immediately, CGS Zamboanga alerted the personnel of CGSS Isabela and deployed two Coast Guard crafts, DF-314 and DF-316 to conduct rescue operations. SAR team transferred all passengers of MV Jadestar Legacy and safely brought them to the nearest shoreline.

On the same day, the distressed vessel was able to maneuver safely away from her agrounding position and was towed by her sister ship, MV Prince Glory back to Zamboanga City Port.

MV Jadestar Legacy, with 225.45 GT/116.42 NT is owned and operated by Ibnerizam Shipping Lines Incorporated and skippered by Captain Jesus Delos Santos.
