PCG: Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL) has sent one of its personnel to Pag-asa Elementary School in the Municipality of Kalayaan to augment the existing teaching staff Β as classes opened yesterday, June 06.

By virtue of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by Mayor Eugenio Bito-onon Jr of the Municipality of Kalayaan and COMMO ENRICO EFREN A EVANGELISTA PCG, Commander of CGDPAL, Apprentice Seaman (ASN) Oliver M Mazo PCG was transported by a Philippine Navy Islander to Pag-asa Island in time for the start of school year.

ASN Mazo PCG is a licensed teacher who took a week-long DepEd K-12 training along with two other Coast Guard personnel in DepEd-Palawan.

The MOA between the Municipality of Kalayaan and PCG was signed last 23 April 2014 at the presence of Coast Guard Commandant VADM RODOFO D ISORENA PCG and representatives from the provincial government as well as DepEd-Palawan Division.Β 

The objective of said MOA is for the PCG to provide teachers to augment the existing teaching staff of the elementary school.

CGDPAL maintains a sub-station in Pag-asa Island. The deployment of Coast Guard teachers in Pag-asa Island will likewise augment the manning of the sub-station.
