PCG: Commodore William Melad PCG, Commander of Coast Guard District Central Visayas (CGDCV), has recently lauded the efforts of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Ubay for successfully rescuing 17 passengers, 33 crews members and 7 rolling cargoes onboard M/V Lady of Guadalupe- Cebu which ran aground at vicinity 100 yards north of Port Ubay in Bohol on June 11.
Reports from CGSS Ubay revealed that while said vessel was navigating bound to Bato, Leyte, her speed suddenly decreased to three (3) knots and subsequently went dead on water. He then decided to stop the main engine but unfortunately ran aground at the shallow apart of the waters.
Immediately, the skipper of the vessel, Capt. Epitacio Sevilleta reported the incident to the Coast Guard thru VHF radio and requested for necessary rescue assistance.
CGSS Ubay dispatched a Search and Rescue Team to the reported area of incident onboard Motorbanca Bobong- B and rescued all the passengers and crew of the vessel. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The aground M/V Lady of Guadalupe was already successfully from its position. Coast Guard advised the master of the vessel to file Marine Protest relative to the incident.
