PCG: Coast Guard District Western Visayas celebrated its 31st Founding Anniversary last June 19 at the Headquarters Coast Guard District Western Visayas in Iloilo City with PCG Commandant Vice Admiral Rodolfo D Isorena as the Guest of Honor.

The anniversary with the theme as “Coast Guard District Western Visayas @ 31: Bantay sang Kadagatan, Tagapagsalbar sang Katawhan sa Kabisay-an Nakatungdan” was highlighted by the blessings and turn–over of 24 aluminum boats to the stations and sub-stations of CGDWV.

A newly built firing range which will serve as training ground to the district’s personnel to develop their skills and proficiency in handling firearms was also inaugurated.

VADM Isorena also extended his congratulations to the District Commander and personnel of CGDWV for the success of the recently conducted groundbreaking ceremony of the first PCG Search and Rescue base in Brgy. Culasi, Roxas City which was graced by DILG Secretary Mar Roxas and DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.

VADM Isorena together with Commodore Athelo L Ybanez also conferred citations and commendations to deserving CGDWV personnel and units, as well as personnel from other local government units (LGU) and private entities who have given significant contributions to the successful accomplishment of PCG’s mission and functions.
