The Philippine Coast Guard will host the first Regional Meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in the Southeast Asia on July 14-18, 2014 tentatively at the Hyatt Hotel, Malate, Manila.

The five-day activity is a high level meeting with approximately 50 participants from Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. Senior officials from the maritime administration, foreign affairs, environment and fisheries are also invited to participate the said event.

The meeting will focus on Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas (PSSA) and aims to identify marine sanctuaries in the Southeast Asia that require special protection through the action of the IMO.
