PCG: Three stranded fishermen onboard a conked out motor boat were rescued by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Batanes along the vicinity waters of Mount Iraya, Basco, Batanes last Saturday, July 05.

The fishermen reportedly went on a fishing venture around 4:00pm of the same date but encountered engine trouble at vicinity one nautical mile off Mount Iraya at around 6:30pm.

The incident was reported by a certain Bil Malupa to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Basco who immediately sent its personnel along with the crew of motor banca Veronica who volunteered to rescue the fishermen.

The team sighted motor banca John Chester around 8:20pm and towed it back to Basco Port with all of its crew unharmed and in good condition.

M/Bca John Chester was skippered by William Bayaras, 42 and was manned by three crew namely Mervin Salamagos, 25; Wally Gordo, 23 ; and Berio Ponce, 48, all residents of Barangay Santa Lucia, Itbayat, Batanes.
