PCG: A 28-year old local tourist drowned while swimming with his relatives at Station 3 in Boracay Island, Aklan last Tuesday, July 08.
The victim, identified as Bryan Ignacio, was recovered by the Deployable Response Team (DRT) of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay immediately after a certain Oliver Bongaitan reported of the drowning incident.
Ignacio was found unconscious by the joint SAR team of Coast Guard, Red Cross and Bamboo Resort lifeguards 30 meters off the beachfront.Β
The Red Cross personnel conducted Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the victim and was later brought to Metropolitan Doctors Medical Clinic in Brgy. Manoc-Manoc, Boracay onboard a Red Cross ambulance for medical attention.
The victim was later transferred to Saint Gabriel Medical Center in Kalibo, Aklan for further treatment as he remained unconscious. He was declared dead at around 6:20 PM of the same day by Dr. Patrick Buenaflor.
Investigation revealed that Ignacio, a resident of Bamban, Tarlac, went swimming with his relatives at the beachfront of Bamboo Resort around 11:55 AM. He was swept away by strong currents towards the deeper portion of the sea and drowned.
