PCG: A Hongkong flagged vessel successfully rescued four fishermen at the west coast of Mindoro Island yesterday, July 16.

The four fishermen of the unnamed motorbanca were identified as Antonio Bon (36 years old, skipper), Marjhon Aballe (21 years old), Jaymar Selen (18 years old) and Arjay Mojeco (18 years old), all residents of Sitio Calangigan, Occidental Mindoro.

Said fishermen were conducting fishing venture at Busuanga, Palawan since last 09 July.

At 2:00 AM on July 15, they have encountered big waves while they were on their way home which broke their motorbanca’s outrigger and unfortunately sunk at vicinity waters off Mindoro Island.

MV Pacific Pioneer, the Hong Kong flagged vessel, Β was on the way to Mindoro to take shelter and avoid the onslaught of Typhoon Glenda when its duty officer spotted the fishermen clinging on their broken outrigger at said vicinity at 4PM yesterday.

Immediately, crew of said vessel conducted rescue operations and provided them with clothing and food.

Coast Guard Station (CGS) Batangas was alerted about the incident and informed Coast Guard Action Center (CGAC) in Manila. Personnel of Coast Guard Port State Control (PSC) were then dispatched to fetch the rescued fishermen onboard MV Pacific Pioneer at vicinity Outside Breakwater Anchorage Area, South Harbor in Manila today.

The personnel of Coast Guard Medical Service immediately conducted check-up to said fishermen who were all safe and in good condition.

PSC coordinated with CGS Batangas to provide transportation for the rescued fishermen in going to their respective families.

MV Pacific Pioneer, a bulk carrier with 23,274 GT/ 13,807 NT, is owned and operated by Charterluck Enterprises Limited.
