PCG: A motor boat carrying two passengers accidentally capsized at the vicinity waters of Bataraza, Palawan when its freeboard broke at the height of Tropical Storm Henry last Tuesday, July 22.
The unnamed motor boat was supposedly bound for Barangay Sumbiling in Sitio Tagdalungon, Palawan when it encountered unfavourable sea and weather conditions that subsequently broke its freeboard.
The boat took in water and capsized.
One of the passengers Jael Kibol, 19 years old, swam back to shore to seek help from the authorities. He was assisted by the personnel of Rio Tuba Nickel Corporation and reported the incident to Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Rio Tuba.
Immediately, the personnel of CGSS Rio Tuba onboard AB-081, together with Kibol, conducted rescue operation and assisted in the towing operation.Β
Around 11:45AM, the motor boat was successfully towed back to the shoreline of Sitio Tagdalungon with Kibol and his companion, Solayman Mohammar, 31 years old, in good physical condition.
CGSS Rio Tuba provided financial assistance for their fare back to their respective residences. Β
