More than a hundred ailing Filipinos in need of blood transfusion are about to benefit from the latest bloodletting project spearheaded by various organizations in the province of Cavite, particularly the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA).

A total of 108 bags of blood were successfully donated by officers of the 103rd, 125th and 129th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadrons, personnel of Coast Guard Station Cavite, members of the Army Reserved Command, students of the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, and members of the Cavite Dental Association, Kiwanis Club International and officers from the Philippine National Police.

The Philippine National Red Cross conducted medical examination to around 160 participants to qualify for the blood donation yesterday, 20 August 2014 at the Imus Pilot Elementary School.

As part of its Community Relations project, the PCGA Cavite Squadrons have also joined forces with CGS Cavite and Cavite Dental Association to promote marine environmental awareness among the residents of Barangay Pulborista in Binakayan, Cavite. 

The activity was preceded by a clean-up operation on the Barangay Pulborista lagoon which extends from Binakayan National High school to the coastline of Binakayan. Participants were able to collect a total of 1.3 tons of garbage.

This reflects the vision of PCGA’s National Director Vice Admiral Joseph N Dy in preparing, training and equipping the coastal communities to become the front liners and first responders during natural disasters.

He also emphasized PCGA’s charge of being relevant and a stable partner of the Philippine Coast Guard.

These activities were likewise upheld by Rear Admiral Valentin B Prieto Jr., the District Director of Coast Guard Auxiliary District NCR-Central Luzon (CGADNCR-CL).

The PCGA leadership has continued to ingrain these values to their officers and personnel, of which, the Squadron Directors of the 103rd, 125th and 129th Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadrons have steadfastly complied through a stable partnership with Coast Guard Station Cavite.

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary is a service-oriented, uniformed volunteer organization established in 1972 by the Philippine Coast Guard. It is committed to support the PCG in the promotion of safety of life at sea, protection of the marine environment and conduct of maritime search and rescue, among many other missions.
