PCG: A drowning victim was rescued by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Aparri from a river in Barangay Gaddang last Friday, September 5.
Jeoffrey Ramil, 23 years old, and his wife Criselle, 17 years old, were reportedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
Investigations revealed that the couple was crossing a wooden bridge on their way home when Jeoffrey accidentally slipped off the bamboo and fell at the river. His wife attempted to rescue him but failed.
Around 10:35PM, Jeoffrey's father reported the incident to CGS Aparri.
Immediately, the Coast Guard, together with K9 Unit and Special Operations Unit of Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon, conducted search and rescue operation at the said area.
After an hour of searching, the team successfully recovered the unconscious victim and immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
