PCG: A 27-year old corn peddler was found dead 50 meters off the entrance of Maayon River on the same day that he drowned while crossing the river with friends last 08 September.
The victim, identified as Noebe Alejandro, was recovered by the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Roxas at the Maayon River in Sitio Mainit, Barangay Aglimocon, Maayon, Capiz.
Based on a report received from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) in Capiz, Alejandro was on his way home along with his friends, after selling their harvested corns, when the incident occurred.
The group tried to cross the 10-foot deep river but Alejandro was swept away by strong current and drowned.
His friends managed to reach the other side of the river and immediately called for help.
Upon receipt of said report, the personnel of said station together with Coast Guard K9 Western Visayas (CGK9WV) and Special Operations Unit Western Visayas (SOUWV) proceeded to Culasi Port, Roxas City.
The joint team conducted search and retrieval operations and successfully recovered the cadaver more or less 50 meters away from the entrance of Maayon River.
The remains of the victim was properly turned over to his family and brought to Joel Funeral Parlor, Baylan, Pontevedra, Capiz.
