PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard has recently hosted a two-day Inter-Agency Workshop on the Revision of the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP) held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Manila held last September 11-12, 2014.
The inter-agency consultation and workshop aims to establish an innovative version of the NOSCP for a well-coordinated and integrated response mechanism among various government agencies.
It was also noted that the revised NOSCP will prevent chaotic scenarios from occurring as with previous instances of oil spill response in the country.Β
Discussions likewise highlighted that relief operations during oil spill response shall be transferred from the NDRRMC to DSWD.
The activity was attended by various units from the PCG, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute (UP MSI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).Β
