PCG: An unregistered motor banca capsized after it was hit by floating logs yesterday off the waters of Batuan, Masbate, leaving five passengers in danger of drowning on September 14.Β 

With the swift response of the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) San Jacinto, however, all passengers were successfully rescued and brought to Batuan Health Center for medical treatment.

According to Capt. Boyet Balacano of M/Bca RBR, they have departed Lagundi Port enroute to Masbate City when floating logs hit and damaged their freeboard. Water flooded in from the hole caused by the collision until the boat sank.

The Search and Rescue (SAR) Team composed of CGSS San Jacinto, Command Out Post-Lagundi and other volunteers, were able to rescue the victims near Coasta Rica, Batuan.
