PCG: A local tourist was declared dead on arrival at the Don Ciriaco Tirol Hospital in Boracay, Aklan after he drowned while swimming with friends last Sunday, September 14. 

The victim identified as Arturo David Jr., 25, reportedly drifted to a deeper portion of the beach due to strong current and big waves. 

David was billeted with his friends and officemates at the Boracay Sunset Resort, Station 2, Boracay. 

The bystanders who saw David screaming for help immediately reported to Boracay Action Group (BAG) and Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC).

PO1 May Joy Rubibo of BTAC then informed the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay that a local tourist drowns 200 meters away from the beach.

Immediately, the Deployable Response Team (DRT) conducted search and rescue operations. The team together with the bystanders at the said area rescued the unconscious victim and brought him to the nearest shoreline. While waiting for the arrival of the ambulance, a cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed by the DRT and a certain Mr Paul Liggot, a staff of White Beach divers.

The victim was subsequently brought to Don Ciriaco S Tirol Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Michelle Depakakido. His cadaver was then brought to Prado funeral homes in Brgy. Caticlan, Malay, Aklan for proper disposition.
