DOTC-PCG: An unconscious 41-year old Canadian national was retrieved at sea by the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel when she was found floating at vicinity 200 meters off Station 2 in Boracay, Aklan last Friday, December 13.
The victim identified as Moon Pan was seen floating by LCDR RITCHILLE PABLO PCGA 200 meters away from the shoreline of Epic Resort and Restaurant in Station 2, Barangay Balabag, Boracay in the morning of Friday.
Upon receiving the report from LCDR Pablo, the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay immediately dispatched a Deployable Response Team, together with PCGA personnel onboard the speedboat Diamond Sea Sports, for the conduct of search and retrieval operations.
Pan was then rushed to Don Ciriaco Tirol Hospital in Barangay, Balabag, Boracay but was later pronounced dead by the attending physician.
According to Lloyd Rey, the Filipino fiance of the victim, Pan went swimming alone and subsequently drowned due to big waves at the said area. The couple was temporarily billeted at Hey Jude Resort in Station 1, Boracay when the incident occurred.
Pan's remains were brought to Prado Funeral Homes in Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan for proper disposition.
