This is the challenge of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral George V Ursabia Jr to the six flag rank officers who have been promoted to the next higher rank during their donning ceremony at the PCG National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila yesterday, 06 January 2021.

These are three-star generals, Vice Admiral Eduardo D Fabricante and Vice Admiral Oscar C Endona Jr, as well as four Commodores promoted to the next higher rank, including Rear Admiral Normando D Reyes, Rear Admiral Christopher T Villacorte, Rear Admiral Roy A Echeverria, and Rear Admiral Allan Victor T Dela Vega.

"To our promotees, let the additional stars on your shoulders remind you to be a light, guide, and protector to the organization. Light means hope. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, we should remain as the source of hope to our subordinates so they may resolutely serve others with humility and compassion," Admiral Ursabia said.

"We should also serve as guide to our junior officers and lead them towards the right way. We have to be role models and have moral ascendancy. Above all, we have to take care of our people. Let us protect them so they will grow and have the confidence to spread their wings and earn their respective stars someday," Admiral Ursabia added.

During the donning ceremony, the Coast Guard Commandant also recognized the parents, wives, and children of the promotees who wholeheartedly support the decision of their loved ones to commit their lives to public service.

He underscored the gravity of family's love and respect, and most especially their support to the decision of the newly-promoted flag rank officers to prioritize service above personal interests in fulfillment of their oath to the Republic.
