While our country continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, with a new variant of the virus triggering a renewed sense of urgency to tighten existing quarantine and health measures, we also have to contend with natural calamities that have struck certain parts of the country.

Last week, areas in Western and Eastern Visayas were inundated because of continued heavy rains, with flash floods being experienced in Negros provinces and Samar.

But true to its calling, our frontliners from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were there, immediately performing search and rescue operations, and assisting the evacuation of stranded residents in flooded villages and barangays.

This is another manifestation of the untiring and unwavering commitment of our men and women of the PCG to constantly be in a state of readiness, and without hesitation, be mobilized rapidly wherever needed, to fulfill the mandate of government to serve our people.

No storm is too strong, nor floods too deep, for our gallant PCG personnel. They will always be there for you.
