The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a maritime incident involving passenger and cargo vessel, MV Manoling 2 that ran aground at the vicinity waters off Dunggoan, Danao City, Cebu on 12 January 2021.
According to Captain Eduardo Morales, master of said vessel, they departed from Port of Isabel in Leyte enroute to Dunggoan Wharf in Cebu with 25 crewmembers, 53 passengers, and 22 rolling cargoes aboard.
While underway, MV Manoling 2 was battered by high waves and strong current, causing it to drift to a shallow vicinity water where it ran aground.
Captain Morales sought the assistance of the PCG to ensure the safety of the passengers and crew who were ferried to Port of Danao without further untoward incident.
Eventually, a private tug boat was hired to tow the distressed vessel to the nearest shoreline for appropriate assistance.
