The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), together with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), retrieved the body of a 14-year-old male who drowned while swimming at the Hawayan River in Silay City, Negros Occidental at around 04:00 p.m. yesterday, 13 January 2021.
According to the victimβs friends who was with him when the accident occurred, he drifted towards the deep portion of the river due to strong current. His companions tried to rescue him, but to no avail.
The search and retrieval team transported the body to the Silay City DRRMO for proper disposition.
