The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) deployed personnel and vehicles to evacuate stranded residents of Barangay Libertad, Palo, Leyte amid waist-deep flooding yesterday, 10 February 2021.

Said initiative was in response to the call for assistance of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) after receiving reports that at least16 individuals needed immediate evacuation support in Barangay Libertad.

Immediately, Coast Guard Station Leyte and Coast Guard Station Tacloban dispatched their deployable response teams for augmentation.

The rescued individuals were safely transported to the Palo National High School that served as an evacuation center.
