The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District in Northeastern Mindanao conducted a six-day water search and rescue (WASAR) training for 21 aspiring lifeguards at Barangay Sto. NinΜo, Magallanes, Agusan del Norte on 04 to 10 February 2021.
The participants performed rescue techniques, such as water entries and exits, underwater swimming, various swimming strokes, underwater knot tying, bottom sampling at 15 feet, and one-mile endurance swim.
They were also trained on the proper conduct of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as first aid.
Said initiative was made successful with the cooperation of the local government unit of Magallanes, Agusan del Norte.
