Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel of BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401) assisted 15 local fishermen of a distressed fishing boat that capsized at the vicinity waters off Surigao amid the onslaught of Typhoon #AuringPH last week.

According to the boat captain, they encountered big waves that damaged the boat's outrigger, until it eventually capsized. They were rescued by a transiting fishing boat that also conducted radio communication with the PCG for support.

The survivors were provided with food, water, and initial medical check-up before they were turned over to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of General Santos City for further assistance yesterday, 25 February 2021.
