Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral George V Ursabia Jr welcomed the 24 graduates of the Coast Guard Officers' Course (CGOC) Class 26 - 2020 'Charlie', composed of 23 lawyers and one priest, at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila today, 02 March 2021.
Said batch of PCG officer graduates comprised the HIGHEST NUMBER OF LAWYERS who finished the CGOC simultaneously.
During the graduation ceremony, Admiral Ursabia shared that having lawyers as Coast Guardians will ultimately transform the PCG into a more efficient and proactive maritime law enforcement body.
βOur mandate is full of law enforcement activities that take numerous legal concerns. Needless to say, we need lawyers. Having 23 lawyers and one priest answers the challenges that we are currently facing. I hope and pray that all of you will stay with us for good. Help the Coast Guard. Help our country,β Admiral Ursabia exhorted.
The CGOC Class 26 - 2020 'Charlie' took oath and commenced the four-month-long training on 09 November 2020.
