The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) supported the relief operations in celebration of the 32nd birthday of Lieutenant Commander Gerald Anderson of the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) in Barangay San Agustin, Iba, Zambales yesterday, 06 March 2021.
With the generous participation of the World Vision Philippines and actress, Julia Barretto, a total of 300 Aeta families residing at the Lupang Pangako Resettlement Area in Barangay San Agustin received basic commodities such rice, canned goods, instant noodles, biscuits, coffee, chocolate drink, and hygiene supplies during said initiative.
The Lupang Pangako Resettlement Area was built by the World Vision Philippines in 1993 to provide homes for the displaced Aetas in Botolan, Zambales.
LCDR Anderson PCGA expressed his sincere gratitude to the PCG Public Affairs led by Commodore Armand Balilo, PCG Logistics Systems Command, PCG Station Subic, and the World Vision Philippines for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the relief operations.
"Nagpapasalamat ako kasi kasama ko kayo sa birthday ko. Sana nakapagbigay ng kaunting saya sa inyo ang pagbisita namin dito. Hiling ko rin na maging 'partner' kami ng komunidad na ito sa mga susunod pang pagkakataon," LCDR Anderson PCGA said.
LCDR Anderson PCGA is one of the most active Auxiliary volunteers, specifically in conducting humanitarian assistance operations which is one of the core mandates of the PCG.
After the onslaught of Typhoon #UlyssesPH, LCDR Anderson PCGA was instrumental in the distribution of 1,500 relief packages in Isabela and Cagayan. He also ensured typhoon-stricken communities in the Bicol region were supported by sending at least 500 family packs containing food provisions and hygiene supplies.
Amid the country's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, LCDR Anderson tapped the Coast Guard K9 Force for the swift construction of temporary quarantine tents for the frontline medical workers of the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium in Caloocan City.
He also provided tents for PCG frontliners who are managing the day-by-day operations of quarantine facilities for returning overseas Filipinos located at Pier 15, Port Area, Manila.
