The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to construct stations in Calayan Island located in the province of Cagayan, following the signing of the deed of donation between PCG Commandant, Admiral George V Ursabia Jr and Calayan Island Mayor Joseph M. Llopis on 09 March 2021.

The establishment of Coast Guard stations and/or sub-stations at an approximately 1,000-square-meter land area in the island will not only enhance maritime law enforcement, maritime security, maritime safety, maritime search and rescue, and marine environmental protection in the northern part of Luzon, but also in the waters of the West Philippine Sea.

During the signing ceremony, Admiral Ursabia expressed his sincerest gratitude to the local government of Calayan Island for supporting the Coast Guard, specifically in strengthening its visibility in the region.
